Acceptance doesn’t mean you have to put up with everything. It does not mean you peacefully accept just anything. Acceptance is the ability to accept the things that you cannot change anyway. If you can change it, why worry? And if you cannot change it, why worry?

We have the freedom to change a lot of things in life for the better and that is what we should do. However, there are some things which are unchangeable. Acceptance means we don’t make difficult situations even worse. We cannot always control the things life exposes us to, but we can choose how we react to them.

When you find yourself in a dissatisfactory situation, either make an effort to change it or accept it as it is. Do not let the feeling of dissatisfaction make it even worse. Do not start an inner fight about it. In difficult situations, acceptance is often the best strategy for coping with stress.
