Change & resilience

75

Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. Or overcome disaster and adversity to rebuild yourself and thrive in the most difficult of circumstances. Key characteristics of resilience are the ability to take control. Having confidence in one’s skills and abilities. Having a sense of purpose. Having the capacity to help yourself and others. This kind of stamina helps us to get through times of change.

When change happens in our life, we often let go of our stamina, as our basic “safety” is being threatened. So how do we access resilience when we need it the most? First of all, get clear about what you need.
Then define your next step. If you need to lead your team through change, show concern and understanding for them. Be flexible and address concerns openly and give them the opportunity to engage in the change. Acknowledge that change is difficult and show understanding to your own and others’ emotional reactions.
And if you need help, reach out and ask for support…!
